EKSG Donates Bus To Ebira Community, Four Others

The Ekiti State Government has donated brand new buses to five organizations.

The benefitting organizations are Progress FM, Nigeria Automobile Technicians' Association (NATA), Ekiti State Sawmillers Association, Ekiti State Timber Traders Association and the Ebira community.

Speaking during the presentation of the buses on Government House grounds, the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, said the gesture was to ensure that another promise was kept.

"We made promises to these associations and organizations which are working to improve the lives of Ekiti people. This gesture is to demonstrate our appreciation and passionate partnership with the work these organizations are doing in Ekiti," Fayemi said.

He said it was the tradition of his government to support all the communities in the state, adding that the Hausa and Igbo communities had also been given buses to help them in their associational activities.

"As regards the organizations, they approached government that what they would like is a passenger vehicle that they can use in pursuit of their work in the state. We know they will use it to the benefit of their members and their professions. These are professions that employ a sizable number of our teeming population in Ekiti and you know my attitude when it comes to people who provide jobs. We must do everything to support them to create the enabling environment for more jobs to be created in Ekiti State. NATA is doing that. The timber traders, they are one of the largest employers of labour in Ekiti State. The sawmillers, as you all know, every community you get to in Ekiti State, you will find a sawmill there. The Ebira community is our mainstay in the agriculture sector in this state. So, you can understand why we are doing what we are doing. It is not just a simple gesture. It is a gesture that is meant to strengthen the capacity of these various associations to continue to work in harmony with the people of Ekiti State," said the governor.

Speaking on behalf of the benefitting associations, the Chairman of NATA in Ekiti State, Chief Odun Olaseinde, described the governor as a honourable man who keeps his promises.

Chief Olaseinde said previous administrations in the state had made the same promise to them, but never kept them, adding that the Fayemi administration has distinguished itself as a honest one.
