NMA faults Taraba legislature over Suntai’s health condition

The Nigerian Medical Association has raised the alarm that the Taraba State House of Assembly has so far ignored the offer of free medical investigation into the true state of health of Governor Danbaba Suntai, who was injured in plane crash a year ago.
The leadership of the medical doctors made an offer of free diagnosis of the ailing governor but has yet to receive a response from the lawmakers since it made the offer.
National President of the NMA, Dr. Osahon Enabulele, said this in an exclusive interview with Saturday PUNCH in Abuja on Thursday.
According to him, the association had not received any formal invitation to look into the state of health of the governor two months after the offer was made. He explained that the NMA decided to offer its professional service without charge to the House in order to avert imminent crises emanating from the controversy surrounding the health of the governor.
Enabulele lamented the lukewarm attitude of the legislature to the NMA offer, saying the association had only received what he described as “speculative invitation” from some quarters in the state.
He also said that the NMA under his leadership was ready to volunteer its professional services at no cost to the Taraba people as part of its effort to avert a breakdown of peace in the state.
Enabulele stressed that the association would be willing to render similar services to other states if it became necessary.
“We have made our pronouncement on the issue in Taraba State with regard to the state of health of the Governor, Danbaba Suntai. We have since offered free services to the government and people of Taraba State on our readiness to avail the state of our expertise as professionals.” he said.
