Well-being of Ekiti People Will Always Be My Priority - Fayemi

In continuation of the ongoing budget tour by the Ekiti State Government, the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi today visited all the communities in Ikole Local Government.

The tour which purpose is to collate the requests of all towns and villages in the state as a guide in preparing the 2014 budget can be said to have achieved its purpose in Ikole Local Government as the governor patiently listened to all the demands of the people.

The people were full of praises for the approach of Dr. Fayemi to governance, which they described as exemplary.

At the Elekole's palace, the people of the town, spoken for by the kabiyesi, Oba Ajibade Fasiku, asked the governor to help facilitate the accreditation of courses at the Federal University campus in the town, while also urging the government to rehabilitate the Ijesa-Isu/Ilu-omooba road which the kabiyesi said would make the journey from Ikole to Ado easier and faster.

Other requests include the re-activation of pipe-borne water to which the governor replied that pipes are already being laid, renovation of the stadium on the road to Ara, more political appointments, renovation of Elekole's palace, reconstruction of Eleyowo market, creation of additional LCDAs out of Ikole Local Government, amongst others.

Oba Fasiku thanked the governor for helping in ridding the town of Fulani armed robbers, the newly flagged off Ara/Isinbode road, the 5 kilometer road, schools' renovation, stipend for the elderly, ongoing renovation of the hospital in the town and many more.

While pledging the support and commitment of his town to the re-election of Dr. Fayemi, the Elekole said the governor has done what everyone can see.

"Fayemi dey kampe. There is no shaking for Fayemi. By the grace of God, we stand by you and we are going to vote for you. Your second coming is assured," Oba Fasiku said.

Responding, Governor Kayode Fayemi condoled with the Ikole Local Government over the loss of two of their prominent sons, Professor Michael Filani and Chief Olatawura, adding that he had personally gone to visit their families in Ibadan.

He gave assurance that renovation work will soon start at the palace and the Eleyowo market, while also promising that with the ongoing pipe-laying, water will start flowing in Ikole in 2014.

He also announced his administration's plans to construct a stadium in Ikole and Ikere to boost sports activities and encourage youth who are interested in sports.

Describing Ikole as his home, Governor Fayemi said he would go through all their written demands to see which ones can be incorporated into the 2014 budget.

Governor Kayode Fayemi also visited other towns and villages in Ikole Local Government.

Most of the demands of the people centred on roads and bridges, provision of water, extension of  electricity, more political appointments for their sons and daughters, amongst others.

The governor commissioned a new police station at Ijesa-Isu, a 200 KVA transformer at Oke-Igbala and promised that the Almajiri school at Esun would soon be commissioned.

He also inspected ongoing work at some town halls being built with funds provided by the State Government under the grants-in-aids programme tagged 'Ajose Eyi Yato'.

Dr. Kayode Fayemi told the people of Ikole Local Government that he could not just sit in Ado-Ekiti and unilaterally decide what the people want, hence the reason he is going round all the towns in Ekiti to listen to all the requests of the people, stressing that the well-being of the people will always be the number priority of his government.
